Regularly scheduled lessons are so very important to your development as a flutist.  You need to  schedule time in your day to practice the flute, just as you schedule time to study or schedule time for sports practices.

I understand that flute isn't the ONLY thing in your life, but in order to improve you must be dedicated.  You will not get better through wishing it to be so!!!

Therefore, I am very picky because I want you to be the best you can be, and I want you to understand what we are working on - if you don't, it means I need to present the material in a different way.  And, just as I want you to be a flexible flutist, and understand different concepts, I am also a very flexible teacher, and want to find the words or examples that help you learn best!

In lessons, you can expect to work on tone, technique, and studies every week.  I see these as the foundations that  help you  to build in every other way.  If you  can't get a good, solid tone, then what can you really play?  And, if you're not building on your technique, then how can you understand expression?

I also enjoy working with my students on style, vibrato, tonguing, and you can expect discussions about these when we're preparing solos, duets, or orchestral excerpts.

Happy Practicing!!!
